Smallworld Tools

Coding/Developer

• Enhanced Emacs for Smallworld. Some people call it 'Igormacs'. This has cool extensions that allow easier buffer control and code completion. Emacs 23 download Summary of Extensions Parent Dir
• MDT - This is an extension to Eclipse for editing, sessions, and debugging!

Magik Syntax-Highlighting for other editors

* Notepad++

In Notepad++ you may configure syntax highlighting for magik files in the following way:

1. Fetch file magik.xml from https://github.com/l-konov/sw_magik_npp
2. In notepad++ call pulldown menu "Languages -> Define your Language"
3. Import the downloaded magik.xml file

After a restart the syntax highlighting should work.

You may install magik syntax highlighting to vim:

• for the currently logged in user do the following steps:

(NB: in the third step the file magik.vim is created. If you think of creating the file by another editor by copying what is writtein here, note that the double backslash at the end of a line almost the middle has to be replaced by a single backslash!)

• http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ This is a good bit blaster to read/modify binary files. It is also capable of bit blasting a hard drive!
• Unlocker is a utility that shows you what files are open in a directory. It also gives you the ability unlock the open file.
